It’s funny how things work out isn’t it? It should’ve always been BWBL, but I chose a separate path. Pride and ego has always been my downfall but that’s just how I’m built. I chose to go SRL & WWF because I wanted to. That brought my guys and myself to 2017. We had a good run in regionals, but regrettably weren’t able to get to the national tournament.
Last year, I took most of the year off with the exception of regionals and a few games during the regular season of BWBL. During that time, I came to conclusion that I was going to come back. I wanted to play again. Wiffleball is too much fun and I wasn’t ready to give it up. Think about it, we get to relive our dream of playing baseball in our 20’s & 30’s, and anyone that says it isn’t fun just doesn’t love the game of baseball like they should.
Unfortunately, this isn’t something that I can do forever and I realize that. I turned 30 this year and know that one day I want a house, marriage, and children and they are going to take priority over this fun game that I play and drink to on Sundays. However, fast forward to the present and I finally realize that it’s BWBL and should’ve always been BWBL. I put my pride behind me and want the Wiffle ball city of Wilkes-Barre to succeed.
Some people may question our ability to gel together for this tournament, and to be honest, in the beginning I did as well. We’re one week out and the only thing I have to say about that is I’m all in. I’m a competitor, a battler, and I know that every one of the guys on this roster wants the same thing that I do. We just wanna win.
Come next week, win or lose, we’re all going to do it as brothers and as BWBL.
